PROBAZA Develops Camouflage Fabric for Ground Robotic Systems Based on Combat Experience

The Ukrainian engineering team PROBAZA https://www.instagram.com/probaza_ukr/  has introduced a specialized camouflage fabric designed for ground robotic systems (GRS), developed based on real combat experience and direct feedback from frontline units. The solution addresses the growing vulnerability of robotic platforms, which have increasingly become priority targets for enemy reconnaissance and strike drones.

According to PROBAZA, analysis of battlefield losses shows that ground robotic systems are detected not only through radio signals but primarily through thermal and visual signatures. Even compact GRS platforms become clearly visible in thermal imaging once their components heat up during movement or operation, making them easy to identify and engage from the air.

For this reason, the camouflage fabric was engineered not as a generic cover, but as a practical field-ready solution. It reduces the thermal contrast of the robotic system, breaks up its recognizable silhouette, and complicates identification by drone-mounted cameras and optical observation systems. The goal is not complete invisibility, but delaying detection and reducing engagement probability — a critical factor in increasing the survivability of robotic systems on the battlefield.

The solution is tailored specifically for mass-deployed and proven platforms, including the “Termit” and “Targan” ground robotic systems. The camouflage fabric is produced in modular sections sized 1.5 × 1 m and 1.5 × 2 m. Depending on the configuration and dimensions of a particular platform, one robotic system typically requires between three and five panels. This modular approach allows flexible adaptation to different missions, environments, and terrain types.

All PROBAZA solutions undergo field testing under real operational conditions. The materials are evaluated from aerial platforms using thermal imaging drones and continuously refined based on direct feedback from military units. The camouflage fabric does not interfere with moving parts, sensors, or navigation systems and is designed to be quickly installed, repositioned, or removed without complicating field operations.

PROBAZA emphasizes that as robotic systems take on a larger role in modern warfare, their visibility and survivability become decisive factors.
